Do you mean system reply list? Won't it keep replying to add that increment every time the job throws a message? Dangerous if it starts looping.

I used the reply list in a CL to add a fixed increment on the file in
QTEMP.  I did NOT use NOMAX.  Pick a number too small, and the message gets
thrown many times.  Too big, and DASD may get eaten.  But, since the
message is handled by reply list, it isn't that big of an issue.
