The HMC is really just an Intel server in the end so yes you can use an IMM.
Make sure to find the correct one for your model.
Caveat: I don't believe you'll be able to start the console sessions or GUI
etc, with the IMM, so be sure to have the remote sessions started.
If you have VMWare you could just use the virtual HMC as well. That might be
the smarter bet in the long run.

Subject: Can a HMC have an IMM
Hello all,
Do you know if an IMM (Integrated Management Module) is available for a HMC?
Here is our situation.
We currently use an old IP KVM switch to access the HMC when we need to do
stuff that can not be done using the web interface, specifically starting a
5250 console session.
This KVM switch is due to be retired and is used only to access the HMC. All
other server have an IMM. I want to avoid having to by a new kvm just for
that.
Our business partner is proposing to use a virtual KVM, but this would cost
us over 4000$.
The IMM would be the best but I can not find a source that can tell me if
this is an option or not for an HMC.
Any help would be appreciated.
