Two things.
One, if coding for things before the write eases programming go for it.
But that doesn't remove the value of constraints.

Two, you're right, it would be nice if it listed all the violations
instead of horfing on the first one.

I created a table and duplicated your situation with:

create table rob.scuzzy (
colA char(1) constraint ColANotYorN check(colA in('Y', 'N')),
colB char(1) constraint ColBNotYorN check(colB in('Y', 'N'))
);

INSERT INTO ROB.SCUZZY VALUES('Z', 'Z');

and it only reported one of the errors
SELECT * FROM TABLE(QSYS2.JOBLOG_INFO('*')) A

QRY1159 INFORMATIONAL -
CPF502F SENDER -
CPF502F NOTIFY EXCEPTION HANDLED
SQL0545 DIAGNOSTIC -

SCUZZY
SCUZZY
*COLBNOTYORN

Run in debug mode for performance information.
Check constraint violation on member SCUZZY.
Check constraint violation on member SCUZZY.
INSERT, UPDATE, or MERGE not allowed by CHECK constraint.
