Right. That absolutely makes sense. But I didn't know whether you
meant financial auditors or security auditors. In either case, I was
surprised, because
(1) I wouldn't think financial auditors would need information that is
so specific to the platform, and
(2) I would think that security auditors *would* have the necessary
expertise to properly exercise or introspect whatever system it is
they are trying to test. (I.e. these should be the Unix gurus I was
talking about.)
Unless, our auditors
screwed up the chmod command?
That's what it seems like. (Kevin's explanation sounds right.) These
auditors are not giving me a lot of confidence.
