Edit the JDBC settings select the translation tab and select "Translate CCSID 65535"

Additionally you can save different setups for selection later. So if you want the long names returned sometimes, save a JDBC setup then use the Connection menu to select that setup for use.

Subject: Run SQL Scripts: Converting hex data into human readable

When I run this query in Run SQL Scripts I am seeing hex data for entry_data. How do I see that in character?

SELECT journal_code, journal_entry_type,
job_name, Job_user, job_number,
Remote_port, Remote_address, system_name,
Entry_Timestamp, Receiver_name,
Program_name, Program_library,
OBJECT, object_type,
CHAR(ENTRY_DATA, 256),
X.*
FROM TABLE(QSYS2.Display_Journal('QSYS', 'QAUDJRN', -- Journal library and name STARTING_TIMESTAMP => CURRENT TIMESTAMP - 24 HOURS -- Time period
)) AS x
where Job_user in('TOM', 'DICK', 'HARRY');
