Several release ago I might have done the same thing. I have actually
wrote a RTVIPADDR command just to retrieve the IP Address of the currently
running 5250 job.
But times have changed. The SQL services available on currently supported
releases of the OS really negate that kind of work.

However, if this person is doing stuff like VPNing into one PC and using
remote desktop on that PC to run their 5250 sessions then the 5250 session
will have a local address (from the remote desktop) and not the VPN
address.

Again, I fail to understand why one would care if the person is using VPN
vs local unless the data is super high secure and must only be accessed
from a particular local workstation which has no remote desktop or other
such capabilities. This kind of data is often not found outside the
studios of "24".
