It's also the reason I added the option to add PDF overlays (like a digital
pre printed form) to my own software. AFPDS never has rubbed me the right
way. Issues with alignment, fonts, font sizes, page setup, etc.

Constantly messing with these differences is one of the major reasons we
did away with faxing from applications on the IBM i. We told all
customers, suppliers, etc that they can get snail mail, email, EDI, etc
but faxing is now out.

Roger,

Are the fonts on the converted PDF the same typeface and size as on the
printed one? There could be font substitution going on.

Otherwise, over the past few years when that has happened with my utilties
the only thing I could get from IBM was "the printer file is incorrect".
In other words, the printer is more forgiving with the settings than IBM
is
when converting it to PDF (virtual printing).

I have an AFPDS spool file with an overlay (full page form). I can get
everything to align fine for either printing hard copy or for CPYSPLF to
*PDF.

If the print version is OK, then the PDF version has all the data pushed
down by about 1 line. If I move the overlay or the data to compensate,
that screws up the hard copy version.

The overlay was created in Word using the generic 600 DPI AFP driver.

Any thoughts/suggestions? (Sorry Richard S. Not looking for a
commercial
product <grin>)

7.2 TR5 - current on PTF's (well, not counting I'm waiting for TR6 to be
installed...)

Thanks.
