Seriously as Jim and others have mentioned. Get a VM Product of some flavor. Acquire an old VM with and old Browser and and Old Java. Disable all updates. Use it ONLY for access such as this do NOT got to google from it, do NOT play YouTube videos on it do NOT visit IBM.com.

This is THE ONLY way to assure you can access these sorts of things. Honestly nearly every day I find yet another use for that old VM. (sigh) Even if you do figure out a way in the next Java or the next OS or the next browser fix will just break it again and you'll waste more time fixing it again.

I've tried, but my default browser is Firefox and is already upgraded to
v52, which doesn't support plug-ins.
We've also tried Edge, which similarly doesn't support plug-ins, and
Internet Explorer.
Internet Explorer hasn't worked with access to the TS2900 in years anyway.

If you know some tweak I haven't tried, let me know.

Thomas, I don't have windows 10 to test this out, but you should be

Thanks, everyone, for your suggestions.

I ended up breaking out an old XP laptop with FireFox that could still
connect with my VPN, loading up Java,
and (most importantly) adding the tape drive's URL to the Java Exception
Site List.

Thanks again.

What browser config are you using to access it?

The secret sauce is to put the tape drive's URL into the Java exception
site list. https://java.com/en/download/faq/exception_sitelist.xml

The issue is that the 2900 is using a self-signed certificate, and Java
thinks that's a Bad Idea. Which it is, but changing horses while we're
swimming across the bay isn't my idea of a good time.
