David:

I just noticed that the IBM supplied default LANGID on CRTRPGMOD and CRTBNDRPG is LANGID(*JOBRUN) but on CRTSQLRPGI the default is LANGID(*JOB) ... (Curious as to why that should be different...) -- perhaps this is causing a subtle difference at run-time?

Hope that helps,

Mark S. Waterbury

I've got a table that I'm reading where the column is tagged with
CCSID 5026. When there is lower case English in the column, and I
read the row in a job running with CCSID 5035, I'm getting the 5026
data and it's not being converted into the job's CCSID.

FWIW: If I add a 'declare :hostvar variable ccsid 5026' to the RPG program, the data comes across correctly... but this is not a runtime statement, so I can't condition it for a Japanese environment.
