I've run into a problem with Japanese CCSID's and SQL. Kind of stumped.
I've got a table that I'm reading where the column is tagged with CCSID 5026.
When there is lower case English in the column, and I read the row in a job running with CCSID 5035, I'm getting the 5026 data and it's not being converted into the job's CCSID.
What am I missing? Since the field has a specific CCSID, I would expect the contents to be converted to the job's CCSID.
I'm primarily encountering this in an RPG program, but get the same results when I run an interactive query (STRSQL).
Thanks!
david
