That's because with any self-signed certificate unless you import the CAs
into your PC it won't trust them.

The CA is your IBM i, not an entity like GoDaddy, etc. There's no way a PC
could automatically trust a self-signed certificate.

Yes, the defaults work, at least as far as encryption is concerned. In
regard to assigning a self-signed certificate to the HTTP server, browsers
will still show a message warning that the sky is falling...
