Chris,
I am also seeing this condition.
I was told that IBM had addressed this in a prior release, but it still
occurs.
I have kept the old Personal Communications 6.0 version for just this
condition. When I need to query a file where I know this exists, I switch
to that emulator and then run my SQL.

I have started using the new java based emulator and .hod files. Guess
what I found out. If you query a file with binary data in a text field, it
creates several dumps and the query crashes. If you use the older Personal
Communications 6.0, it will display the binary data as Asterisks with a
line over the top and NOT create dumps or crash the query. Love it when
the new latest and greatest software does not work as well as the older and
more stable software.
