I was told by someone that if you delete the command SLTCMD that typing in
WRK*
and pressing enter would no longer provide a list of those commands
beginning with WRK*

I also tested the following by removing *INTERACT and *EXEC:
CHGCMD CMD(SLTCMD) ALLOW(*IREXX *IPGM)
Command SLTCMD in library QSYS changed.
wrk*
Command SLTCMD not allowed in this setting.
Error found on SLTCMD command.
CHGCMD CMD(SLTCMD) ALLOW(*IREXX *IPGM *INTERACT *EXEC)
Command SLTCMD in library QSYS changed.
wrk*
once again provides a list of the wrk* commands.

So apparently it's a necessary evil.
