Even if you don't need 3rd party to send an email, you'd probably be better off buying a product that lets you email a spool file as any number of formats.

I hate buying stuff. But Gumbo's spoolmail and Brad's GETURI and Mailtool are in the affordable category .

I'm not so sure about relays going away and everything going straight to the cloud. How would they handle those multifunction copier/printer/scanners? Those need to relay through something.
