John is correct in that there's not a bad choice.

Ease of learning would probably be in this order (my opinion, of course):
PHP, Python, Ruby, Java, Node.js; with PHP and Python being fairly close in
ease. Opinion: I like Ruby the best out of all of them. The language was
just put together well.

With that said, we're adopting a lot more Node.js (Javascript) for our
in-house stuff because of the reality it keeps us in one language:
Javascript. We're forever chasing the efficiencies of RPG+DSPF coding.
Having a single language syntax is a big step towards that direction.
Javascript is in a fairly insane evolution at this stage; or better stated,
it is changing fast. This is good because Javascript needed some changes,
but it also means code examples that were relevant a few years ago are
already outdated, and they will be further outdated once ES7 comes out with
its "await" keyword. The old code still works, but the newer/better
methods should be adopted because it makes your code better (more legible
and easier to maintain).

Anyways, those are some thoughts from a person that loves learning new
things and who is also tasks with producing results.

Nice. Sort of like "It's a lot easier to steer the ship than to get it
started."
