Summarizing the RPG List thread,

I've got an IFS stream file that's CCSID 819 on some boxes, and CCSID 1208 on others (it originates from Java). And I've got RPG programs that read that file, using techniques from Scott Klement's IFS ebook.

The file is opened with mode O_READONLY + O_TEXTDATA.

On the boxes where the file is CCSID 819, it works fine.

On the boxes where the file is CCSID 1208, it blows up with errno=3490 (ECONVERT).

Assuming there's no way to force Java to create the file as CCSID 819, how do I get this thing to work?
