A TAB can't trigger a submit back to the server, and I can't figure out how to code a Field Exit.

" poor application design"
1. 5250
2. Three barcodes, one of varying length 3. Only input device is a
barcode reader I'm open to suggestions. :)

Rework your application so that the fields in the display file are at least one character longer than the longest barcode you're ever going to use (so that you always need to TAB or FIELD EXIT to get to the next field, and then TAB or FIELD EXIT after every scan will work as intended.

I've never had to code an application for a bar code scanner, but (this was mostly before my time) we did have an application that used a Voice Response Unit, plugged into a Twinax line via an adapter of some sort (its native connection was a BNC, and I don't think it was precisely a standard one).
