Depends on what you mean by "better" Jack.

If writing your own PHP code you would normally use the DB2 access directly.

If you have an application that uses mySQL then I personally would only use the DB2 storage engine for those tables where I need to process the data with both PHP and RPG.

At this point I'm going to stop this post and wait for you to reopen this thread on the Web400 list. David will just get cross with us if we continue it here. <grin>

P.S. In order to use the Admin console you do apparently need a key from Zend for the current version - either a full license key or one for the basic edition. I would suggest you do as I suggested earlier and just drop a copy of adminer into your root folder and use that. It is every bit as good as PHPmyAdmin and better in some ways as well as being simpler and faster.

Hi Jon: I can't get to Phpmyadmin, only the screen that tells me to choose
a version of Zend. I guess a license is required? I've tried to fill out
the serial number for the basic version but I never hear back from Zend.

I'm going to give them a call today because I think it would be better to
use Db2 on the i instead of mySql.

Thanks

Well I don't know what PHP you are running if not Zend <grin>

If you go to yourSystemName:10080/ZendServer/ you should be taken to the
control panel which at some point you'll need particularly if working with
Wordpress.

From there you can also set up PHPMyAdmin which you'll find a useful tool
for setting authorities, backing up tables, etc. With a tool like WP the
"database" - if such it can be called - probably holds no interest as far
as using it from RPG or SQL is concerned, but that interface also makes it
easy to change the underlying DB storage engine so that you could switch to
using the DB2 storage engine if desired for software where you do want to
share the data.

I have a working PHP Apache instance. We don't really use Zend as far
as I
know.

When I go to
http://myserver:10080/wordpress/wp-admin/setup-config.php?step=1 I see
the
page to enter the DB connection details.

When I enter the correct info, I get the page
Error establishing a database connection

If I create a wp-config.php file, it tells me it already exists.

Thanks for the quick response.

Jack can you be a bit more precise about " it's not working." - that
really doesn't help.

Can you see the Zend Server control panel?

Can you see a regular HTML page when using this Apache server instance?

When you try to launch WP what happens? Does it show you the setup page
or
???

I'm trying to install Wordpress for a POC. I try to connect with this
