Varies by shop, significantly.

Having worked in multiple companies, I totally agree with this. I am
the de facto admin at my current company and I have only one thing that
I do every day: look at the security audit log.

Having said that, I handle user profiles, backup / restore, IBM i
upgrades and PTFs, including groups and TRs, create indexes to deal with
performance issues, measure and analyse performance, keep an eye on disk
(and therefore old stuff that needs to be archived), load and maintain
3rd party software packages, and most importantly, I read like a fiend
to stay as current as possible.

Since you're asking what you can study up on in order to make the move,
can you share what it is you've already been reading?
