Re: RPG and JAVA

Chapter 11 of the ILE Programmers guide is one place to start having a
read.

Java is another language - it has strengths and weaknesses like any other
language.

The ILE environment allows different languages to be called so RPG can
call Java and Java can call RPG (and PHP and Python and ...)

There are thousands of Java classes that can do lots of stuff. The POI
classes are great for creating an excel spreadsheet from RPG.

Find a small project and give it a go!

I know almost nothing about JAVA. Maybe even less.

Does JAVA have capabilities that cannot be performed in RPG? What is/are
the advantages of JAVA over RPG?

Is there a web page that explains any of this?
