In the Host partition, that is the one with the exported NFS Images:

Ping the IP Address assigned to the Service Tools interface of the partition on which you are installing IBM i.

Verify that it PINGs.

Verify that it STOPS Pinging when you disable that interface in service tools.

Verify that it PINGS again when you re-enable it.

THus you are absolutely certain you are pinging the correct interface.
