On our test lpar I want to replace an older Zend server installation
(2ZSVRPI Zend Server for IBM i 5.6.0 ( PHP 5.3 )) with the latest version
(Zend_Server_for_i_8.5_LCD8_1833_01) which I downloaded from ESS.
Since we have never really used the existing Zend installation other than
for trial, I thought it would be a clean process to first remove the old
licensed program and then install the new one. However, during the
uninstall I'm getting a terminal screen from which I cannot escape.
/usr/local/zendsvr/bin/clean_tmpfiles.sh[9]: 0403-030 The fork function
failed. Too many processes already exist.
Press ENTER to end terminal session.

0403-030 The fork function failed. Too many processes already exist.
Press ENTER to end terminal session.
Pressing Enter brings the same message back everytime, and pressing F3 to
leave the terminal session shows the "running cross" for a split second and
then comes back in the terminal session.
We are on 7.3 latest CUME. The lpar is in restricted state.
How do I come out from this situation? Is option 2 end previous request
from the attention the only way? I don't care to break the session, it's
just a test lpar, but in future I'd like to bring the production server
also to the newer Zend version, so I want to understand how the process
must be done.
Many thanks,
Best regards,
-Arco
