RE: PTF Apply on 5.4 box

Run this first
DLTPTF PTF(*ALL)
Note: There's a difference between DLTPTF and RMVPTF. RMVPTF will remove
a PTF that is temporarily applied but does nothing to the downloaded save
files, cover letters, etc. DLTPTF doesn't affect the status of a
temporarily applied ptf but will delete the cover letters, downloaded save
files, etc. And, DLTPTF will clean up these objects for all ptf's,
applied or otherwise.

If not, there will be other things you'll miss. For example
WRKLNK '/QSYS.LIB/QGPL.LIB/QAPZCOVER.FILE/*.MBR'
I used the WRKLNK command because most of my lpars do not have PDM loaded.
And then there are the files which contain the information of which PTF's
are in 'save file only' and what not. You really don't think they scan
your system for save files to know this, eh? Hint: Do a DSPPTF and then
Sys-Req, 3, 14 and see the open files. Do not mess with these. QAPZCOVER
is fair game (after the DLTPTF) but leave the others alone.

After the DLTPTF then hunt away.

I have some lpars which have been around for a few decades. These had
some really old PTF remnents from my failure to permanently apply, and
DLTPTF, stuff during the many upgrades they have underwent and I did have
to do a bit of manual cleanup. One reason I'm a bit more dedicated to
permenently applying, and deleting, prior to an upgrade.
