You're right, he has a solid argument on this one. Like investment consultants always say, "past history does not predict future performance".
I even agree with his position to use DHCP for fixed IP's (which sounded contradictory at first). It remains to be seen how well that will work for me, particularly with my console port and virtual interface.

Oh, I can see that being an issue. We had a little of that way back in the day. But the first time you have dueling addresses going on between one of your internal addresses and something at xxx.<expletivedeleted> dot com, or you are trying to go to a legitimate site but you can't because that IP address is used internally.
Yeah, I can kind of side with your network guy on this one.
