An apparent indefinite wait\hang at the SRCC9002AA5; i.e. "stops" means no indication of work being performed by the system? Sorry, I know nothing of what visual cues or other means to detect system activity on Power, as was available on the AS/400 and iSeries; but if activity can be detected, would it be described as pegged, slow and sporadic, or possibly consistently timed blips? There are some debug procedures that could assist to diagnose what is the issue, via IBM as service provider; if nothing else, be sure to force the Main Storage Dump (MSD) and ensure copying that to disk for later review.

To experience any issue at that System Reference Code (SRC) during a scratch install... Ouch! That phase of the IPL should never have an issue unless the install-image used has some defective code; well, so too for any other phase, having started from a scratch install. Was the image used produced as a DSLO or a /resave/ provided direct from IBM?
