Our Cisco network group calls this EtherChannel instead of Link Aggregation and appear to know what is needed on the switch side.

I have done it a few times, and it works great. The issue is in talking to the network guys and the terminology that you use. The guys seems to understand Link Aggregation. Using CISCO equipment has worked with the shops I have installed it with, but then one time we tried it with some network switch vendor I never heard of and they had to do a few different configurations on the switch before I got it to work

Subject: Aggregate Ethernet Lines
Last November we installed a new Power8 server and are running V7.1. We have two 4 port NICs with only three ports on one NIC being used. When we did the install we didn't have a network switch that could be configured for automatic failover so we didn't configure the iSeries for aggregation. Now we do have an upgraded switch and can do the setup. We have never done this before. I found this document
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/ibmi/library/i-ethernetlines/ for configuring the NIC side. It does not talk at all about changes to the switch side. Has anyone done this kind of setup and come across any issues ?
Thanks
Mike Cunningham
