SAMBA can create those shares for you with the longer names. That's the
point Richard was trying to make.

Hmm, what does NetServer have to do with this? Isn't that something to do
with serving up shares from IBM i?
Because I am trying to consume a share from IBM i. Not serve up a share
from IBM i.
As far as I know I can do
ENDTCPSVR *NETSVR
and still consume a share from a PC server by doing WRKLNK
'/QNTC/MYPC/MYSHARE'

NetServer has always been a sub-par file server.
