Quite independent of this effort, IBM have started to deliver various

Right. The IBM offering is what I have been calling "IBM's Python for
PASE". I call it that specifically to emphasize

1. It comes from IBM, not some third party
2. It runs on PASE, not in the "native" i environment

On both of those points, it differs from iSeriesPython.

In addition to those two points, IBM's Python for PASE is only
available for OS 7.1 and up while iSeriesPython is available for V5R3
and up.
