Mike,
You can do this.
One way is to put job schedule entries out there to check for group
that are newer than what you have on your system.basis
If so, order them and put them on your system for delayed IPL. Then
do the IPL.
With DB2's IBM i Services this becomes really easy.

Schedule day . . . . . . . . . *SUN
Download PTFs . . . . . . . . *NO
While this may download them it's still up to you to load/apply them

I would like this if it was user configurable. Check on a scheduled
and tell me if there are PFTs I should get and if any are critical,it,
download them automatically if I choose to do that and tell me you did
load them if I choose to do that and tell me you did it, let mea
specify
