Last night I applied V7R1 Test PTF MF61265, on both Production and R&D LPARs.
I previously applied to sandbox LPAR, no issues.
Following the immediate PTF apply
1) not all APPC controllers would vary on.
2) Current session was hung and I could not start any new sessions.
3) HMC console would not connect.
Open PMR with IBM, logs being reviewed.
I had to force power down both LPARs from HMC, which resulted in a few damaged objects and some index path rebuilds.
From the HMC, I used Restart option 2
Operating System - Issue the operating system command to shut donw and restart the logical partition normally.
Was there a better choice that may have prevented the damaged objects and/or idx rebuilds?
