Hello,

This is very feasible. The reliability will depends on your network reliability. We use DDM fine on a daly basis (both IP and SNA over EE) and I don't remember having any issues in the last few years.

The only thing you might have to investigate are the security implications.

Objet : Performance and reliability of DDM-Files in a distributed environment

We run 10 decentralized ERP-Systems on 10 iSeries (OS/400) machines. The 10 ERPs are identical. We have a VPN which connects the 10 locations with a bandwidth of 50/50 Mbps. Due to new requirements of the E-Shop, we plan to centralize the address data, using DDM-Files which connect via IP to the remote sides (see https://publib.boulder.ibm.com/iseries/v5r2/ic2924/index.htm?info/ddm/rbae5mst13.htm).

The question is now: is this feasible and how fast and reliable will the connections be?

Thank you very much for any answer. Heinz
