Thank you very much for your useful suggestions. I am a little bit surprised that there is no similar API/program like QSMBTTCC was for checking cache battery status.

I just tinkered with MusGather, which resides in QMGTOOLS library. Technote about how to get it :

It has its own menu, => Hardware Data Collection => PTF/PAL/VLOG data collection, and it creates a file on the IFS in like : /tmp/IBMDATA001.zip. By unzipping it it puts down a file called PALS.txt. I think I will try to use the method suggested by Kirk.
