I had a person who had an expired password. Due to some big project
rollout (long story) they really didn't want to change their password at
this time.
So I logged on to a 5250 session, got to a command line and entered
CHGUSRPRF USRPRF(DUDE) PASSWORD(
and had them put in their existing password and close it off with a
parenthesis.
That did not reset them from being expired.
If I ran CHGUSRPRF USRPRF(DUDE) PASSWORD(TEMP)
and then put CHGUSRPRF USRPRF(DUDE) PASSWORD(
at the command line and then, once again, had them set it to the old one
their password was now reset and they could continue on.
Not something you may run into on a frequent basis. We're actually in the
process of upgrading to IBM Secure Identity Manager to keep passwords in
sync and they were having issues with resetting their passwords to their
existing one in ISIM. (It was a roll out issue since resolved.) They did
change their password in Windows very recently, so it's not like they are
trying to game the system.
