console session from IBM i Access For Windows with the control panel from
ACS? But I'd prefer having my eggs all in the same basket.

Sorry to be late to the party on this (vacation) but I currently have a PMR opened with IBM concerning this problem. There is a backdoor
method of editing the HOD file, but that doesn't work either, so right now it's in the hands of the developers.

CWBPING shows that everything is running. The client's IT staff (Windoze
guys) at that location are all out duck hunting in the bayou this week.
We'll have to wait until they get back to see if they did anything to the network. It wouldn't be the first time.

Paul,
That's nice that IBM couldn't help even if they were being paid. However, I don't see where that has anything to do with
- the trouble shooting steps I suggested from that link
- or running a cwbping from the PC Dos command prompt to see if certain services were running
Were you looking for someone to help you solve this or did you just want someone to commiserate with you?
Again, I'm not sure that it's an imcompatibility issue with the version of Client Access you're running and the old OS. I'm trying to rule that out.

You may want to try this:
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/ssw_ibm_i_72/rzahl/rzahltrblfi
leshare.htm?lang=en-us
Some beer soaked brain cell is telling me the subsystems may have changed sometime since V4R5 but it's a good start.
I would also try the cwbping command from a dos prompt on that PC. This will check services running.
Closest thing to a compatibility chart I could find is:
IBM i Access for Windows 7.1 will connect to any supported IBM i release.
The key there being "supported".
But I'm not really sure this is your issue more than something that didn't
start after the power failure.

Folks,
A couple of questions - At which point did Ops Nav/iSeries Navigator stop being able to work with a V4R5 machine? Does anybody have an old copy of the software?
One of my clients has a V4R5 machine that has been used to store images in the IFS via mapped drives. A couple weeks ago, they had a power failure, and the mapping ability went out the window. The newer versions of iSeries Navigator cannot "see" the TCP servers in a machine that old.
Anybody got a suggestion? I'm stumped, and IBM is no help, even through the consult line.
