Back in the 90's, AS/400 days, 9406-D50, 9406-D45, 9404-400 all connected via 2626 16/4 token ring adapter
I remember the Token Ring MAU, which also outputted to a fiber repeater, to another building, fiber repeater, back to a MAU, to a 5494 token ring controller.

The 2744 was THE PINNACLE of Token-Ring development as it ran at a staggering 100 (yes two zeros) Mbps! I installed exactly one of them for a customer who was using Token Ring. Soon as we upgraded to that machine but before we connected it they dropped T/R for Ethernet. :-)

It also supported 16M (and maybe 4M too, I don't recall.)

I'm quite sure that card would work on a POWER6 with PCI-X slots as it took an IOP to drive it.

For all I know it's still works in i 7.2 too as the CRTLINTRN command is still in i 7.2! AND -trivia of the day- POWERHA supports replicating of Token-Ring lines!

I can't remember if the 2744 was a special token ring card that was
mainly there to support token ring from the FSIOP/IPCS genre of "pc on a card"

I couldn't find anything quite this clear about the 2724.
