I really don't intend this to be a 'measuring' contest over whether or not
java is good or bad; language of choice; etc.
Or whether or not these people royally screwed up their java
implementation in order to cause such issues.
In a hetrogeneous environment you're going to have this. Sure, you can
island off your IBM i and stop putting anything on there which uses PASE,
java, ethernet, electricity, metal, etc. But it won't be long until it's
replaced with something more modern.

The problem is, if you bend over too far backwards to support obsolete
versions of the OS you can't move forward.
