An expression that obtains the last day of the prior month would be:

LAST_DAY(CURRENT DATE - 1 MONTH)

But because likely the unstated system-level being used is [probably still] v5r4, an alternate expression would be available as:

CURRENT DATE - DAYOFMONTH(CURRENT DATE) DAYS
