The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
This is actually quite a huge deal that MS broke the standard. But it was
a lot longer than a year ago. (Unless Samba<>QNTC comsumption of Windows
shares).
IBM i and z both have a serious issue with this. It is both documented
that if you are trying to access a share via QNTC called "MYSHARE" on
Windows and that server just happens to have a few other shares like one
called "ILIKESHARESWITHBIGLONGNAMES" that even connections to "MYSHARE"
may be sporadic at best. That's right, simply the existence of those
longer shares will affect connection to even just the shorter shares. We
were getting caught up on this all the time. We'd even try creating a new
server with just shorter names and some <expletive deleted> would create a
long share name on it.
That is one reason we converted to NFS. That, and we wanted a really OS
independent method so that these shares were accessible from Domino
servers hosted on many platforms.
