I would agree with Larry, as we were in the same room doing this together. Not only that, but we moved all the disks with the exception of the load source during the middle of the day with all their users on the system. We then removed all the old disks from the machine. Later that night when all the users were off the machine, we IPLed to DST, migrated the Load source to the SAN, removed it from old internal LS from the configuration, and re-IPled. Pointing the configuration via Tagged I/O to the new Fibre adapter and IPLed the machine.

Our total down time to do this conversion was less than 1 hour.

I have moved one customer to V7000 native (no VIOS.) 100% of their disk is in there. All disk was migrated - no save/restore. We use flashcopy to create a duplicate partition and then do backups on that partition.

All of this is 100% automated with shell scripts and CL.

I'm just curious.

How many of you are currently managing your IBMi storage on an IBM Storwize V7000 SAN?

If so, has the V7000 replaced ALL of your system's internal disk, including Load Source?

Also, have you implemented Metro Mirror or Global Mirror to another V7000 SAN for DR/BU?

Last question, Are you using FlashCopy to create a point in time image of your data for backing up to tape?

This is what I'm currently setting up in my shop and was wondering if any of my admin peers have done the same.
