Is there an indicator or something to tell you how much life
is left on an SSD? How does one even attempt to predict SSD
life expectancy?

Standard predictive failure analysis imbedded within IBM i will
warn you of SSD End Of Life (EOL) failure.

Consider SSDs have been in the hands of various IBM i shops for
over 6 years now (yup, since summer of 2009) and I am not aware
of a single one which has failed due to EOL.
