Carel,

I'll agree with you EXCEPT that in the 21st century, people want 
answers, they really don't want to *learn* anything and while this is a 
short-term mentality that can come back to haunt you, it's pretty common 
nowadays.

Even Googling can have nasty side effects: Bad examples, flat out wrong 
examples, endless rabbit trails, etc.  So while I don't want to 
encourage folks to post without searching first, asking a question which 
may have an obvious answer on the Internet doesn't compare with a 
definitive answer from someone like Birgitta.

I try not to lean on the list because I am old school and like to learn 
and retain.  But, I think 80% or better of folks today who need 
technical answers want just THE answer, not to walk a manual and learn 
anything.  Again, short sighted and misguided but unfortunately, reality 
(IMHO).
