Your SQL statements can be as wide as the record length (minus the space
for the change date area) that is specified on your source file, normally
112 I think?
On the RUNSQLSTM you can use the MARGINS(200) parameter to set the width to
200, but then your sourcefile must also have a bigger width, else it will
have no effect.

I find myself using two other options when I have wide statements.

a) Copy the whole statement into Notepad++ where I use a very nice plugin
called "Poor Man's T-Sql Formatter" (there is also an online service:
http://poorsql.com ) and reformat it to specific size so that it fits in
the traditional sourcemember.

b) Save the wide source as it is on the IFS and use the SCRSTMF parameter
(I believe available since V6.1) on the RUNSQLSTM command.
RUNSQLSTM SRCSTMF('/mysrc/sqlsrc/modsrc/m00000116i.sql')
I don't know what the width limit for the IFS is, but I do have
statements of 3000 characters on one source line (only CRLF at end of the
complete statement) and they run without problems.

I need to isolate which statements are causing slow run times and which

of a script is failing. Running the script in iNavigator does not provide
enough feedback even when including debug facilities.



Using the RUNSQLSTMT command provides a nice audit trail which I want to
use.



I ask the question because my scripts go out to 200 characters wide and I
do
not want to have to reformat a ton of code. If I could just paste the code
into RDI and then run it, we would all win.
