Hi,

When printing to our Ricoh printers we use the delayed printing option: the spool file is sent to the printer but not yet printed. The user has to select their print output on the printer to have it printed. The way this has been done right now is by creating a printer device description for every single user with their own WSCST object. The WSCST object has the PJL-commands that sent the USER-ID to the printer.

Obviously, this is not a very manageable. If we want to change something on the printer device, we have to change it for every user that uses the device. It is however important that the USER-ID is sent to the printer, so we can't just have 1 device description with 1 WSCST object.

I have been looking for a way to change this, and one way that seems to be a possibility is by using the QSPBOPNC api. However, besides the basic information from IBM I can not find any further information about this API. I would really like to see an example of this API being used to send PJL-commands to a printer before printing the actual spool file. Has anyone on this list ever used this API and could provide me with more detailed information on how to implement this?

Also, if anyone has any other idea how to solve my problem (have spool files printed with extra PJL-commands that are different for each user), please share!

My employer will not buy any third party software, so that is not an option.

Thanks in advance,

Erwin Donker
