Well, since you've tried the command WRKMLMBRM I am going under the
assumption that you have BRMS. BRMS is all about the volume id.

I have not used DSPTAPCGY since I started using BRMS. There are a lot of
those type of commands I have written down when we first went to tape
libraries but didn't use BRMS.

Just to verify that the tape library can read you can try
WRKMEDBRM TYPE(*ACT) LOC(TAPMLB01)
Once you find an active tape
DSPTAP DEV(TAPMLB01) VOL(XXXXXX) ENDOPT(*REWIND)
replacing the x's by a valid volume id.

You may want to look at the SAVLIBBRM command versus the SAVLIB command
But if you want to stick with the SAVLIB command instead of using *MOUNTED
for the volume id try entering one of the volume names currently in the
library.
