I really do have a SLR5-8GB tape.

Silly me. I was inserting in incorrectly. I'm amazed it allowed me to insert it the wrong
way. The 520 did read the tape just fine.

Thank you very much for encouraging to try it again,

Gary

about Re: What medium to use to convert from an AS/400 :

If you actually have an SLR5-4GB tape ALL remaining QIC drives up to the
SLR100 Drive will read that tape.

If the tape says DCxxxx on it then it will not ready and will be ejected.

If all that fails then it's likely that the amount of stuff on the old
150 isn't large so perhaps FTPing some *SAVFS is an option.

I have an AS/400 9401 model 150 that writes tapes SLR5 8gb running V4r4
I need to convert everything to a 9405-520 with a tape drive 6384-001
running v5r3
I was originally told that the 6384 would read SLR5 tapes but would not
write them.
The specs of the 6384 tape drive say it will accept:
SLR60
MLR3
QIC5010
SLR100-5GB
SLR60 Enhanced
I tried loading in ans SLR5 tape today and the drive rejects it.
Does anyone have any idea how I can restore everything to this 520?

Thanks,
