Jon,
I didn't look at the code, but from reading the page Scott's UNIXCMD isn't
designed to sent the command to a remote system...
From what I can see, it's more or less a way to easily get the response
output to stdout by a QSH/PASE program into RPG. Wouldn't be of any use to
the OP.

Not used it for this purpose but Scott Klement’s UNIXCMD (--

take care of some of the plumbing. It is designed for PASE/QSH connections
but from there you could initiate the job etc.
On the other hand can’t you just do this by initiating the jobs via a
direct FTP link? In which case FTPAPI may be what you need (
http://www.scottklement.com/ftpapi/).

We have series of programs that run on the iSeries. They need to kickoff a
job on a Unix box which does some calculations (we don't have the data onthe
the iSeries) and sends the results back. The part we are stumped on is
ideas for how to have the iSeries initiate the Unix job real time. This
really must be real time (they don't even want a 5 second delay) because
user is waiting on the return data to complete their job.the
1) iSeries user job builds data request to be processed by Unix
2) Unix job processes the data request and returns the results to
iSeriesfor
3) iSeries user job check for return data and if not there, delays
a few seconds and then tries again.list
There might be programs in between these steps to load or unload a file,
etc. but these are the critical pieces.
Any thoughts?
