- you could have SQL connections simultanously to multiple databases
- there is only one active at a time
- you could switch between connections with SQL statement set connection or using three part alias
- the only exception is to insert a remote Resultset into a local database file using three part alias (this is very similar to STRSQL or QMQRY with outfile)
BTW: MS SQLs linked table support would pull one table over the wire to have them both in one location to fulfill such requests.
