Alan,

With regard to printers that directly support PDF... this can sometimes
be a good solution. But, I have found that the version of PDF
supported by most printers is really out of date, for example, the printer may support PDF 4.0, while Adobe is currently supporting
versions like 11... so if any newer features are in the PDF, this can
sometimes be a problem.

Honestly, the PRTSTMF utility that so many people have posted/recommended was something I threw together in about 15 minutes one day, and I personally only used it to print PostScript (not PDF) documents.

In theory, it should work fine if your printer's PDF support is adequate... and a lot of people have expressed appreciation for this tool. But, I think it's only fair to point out that it's not perfect.

The way the vast majority of the world prints PDFs is by using the Adobe Reader software, which isn't available for IBM i. There are some open source PDF readers that can be made to run in PASE, however.

Not sure if any of that is helpful :-)

According to the manual http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/pscmisc/vac/us/product_pdfs/3558793.pdf these support direct PDF printing. You might try to connect with an FTP client and sending a PDF to them and see what happens.
