Your statements are both valid, except for the lack of a final 
apostrophe on the 2nd one.

Now if you put that final apost on, your 2nd line is actually a series 
of strings with variables in between - REXX does a kind of automatic 
concatenation without any operator.

So TEST would be a variable - I suspect this is not what you intended, 
especially as you say these are the 1st lines - no variable has been 
given a value, other than delim.

Man, it has been awhile!!
