Confirm T/M with your local CE.
Casual glance at ebay showed some 3590's going for $299.95. IDK your
exact model desired, interface, etc. Compare that with monthly
maintenance that IBM jacks up to encourage you to upgrade tape libraries.
Been more than one person who just keeps a backup on site.
This was really popular with the 'high speed' printers. We've not had one
of those in decades but maintenance on them was so high that I knew of a
few people who just bought up what they could find on the used market and
that was their maintenance plan.
